Our program is based on international standards (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and the Curricular Plan of the Cervantes Institute). It is taught in private classes and small groups, which guarantees personalized attention to participants. In addition, it has flexible schedules that meet the students’ needs.

The classes are based on the Communicative Approach so students develop skills to interact in real communication situations that involve communicating with different types of interlocutors in a variety of situations. The four language skills are integrated: listening and reading comprehension, and written and oral production, to guarantee the reception and subsequent practice of the learned knowledge, both in classroom and sociocultural environments in which they are immersed.

The topics related to Colombian culture and society are the context in which the communicative and grammatical contents already described are developed, through dialogues, texts, audio recordings, etc., and trips guided by professors. This allows students to consolidate what they have learned during class, expanding their vocabulary, learning about new aspects of the Colombian daily life and developing their communication skills in real interactions with different Spanish speakers (a street vendor, a public transport driver, a receptionist, etc.).

The complete program from basic level to upper intermediate level is made up of six levels distributed as: the Introductory Level, A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 framed in the proficiency levels described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The UAM Language Institute offers a free tutoring service for students enrolled in all in-person, remote and virtual courses.

Once students have completed the required number of hours and passed the tests specific to each level, they receive a certificate of attendance stating the number of hours and levels taken.

The courses are taught by high-quality native Spanish speaking professors who hold extensive specialized experience in teaching languages.

Class take place generally during weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. or between 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. However, the classes’ time length is flexible and varies depending on the students’ needs. The courses begin and end according to the University’s academic calendar and/or depending on requests by the students in our courses.
